The Shanghai Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics and the Department of Mechanics at Shanghai University invite applications and nominations for one full-time faculty position at the rank of full professor to start as soon as possible. Preference will be given to candidates in the areas of computational solid mechanics with emphasis on the large-scale numerical simulation and applications in industries. Example application areas of interest include, but are not limited to: simulation in new energy industries such as wind energy, nuclear energy and energy devices in small-scale, etc; or simulation in automobile and mechanical engineering.
Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or closely related discipline from an internationally reputable university；must have the demonstrated ability to conduct research at the high level, a significant record of research publication, a demonstrated ability for the development of research programs, and evidence of quality teaching. Candidate must also demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
Successful candidate will be expected to support the university’s academic and research activities in applied mechanics; to develop research programs that will attract industry funding and national government funding; to mentor graduate students; to contribute to instruction within the existing curricula and to develop new courses and laboratories in mechanics.
Salary is negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and academic experience.
